Stock Market Sectors & Stock Sector Finder

The Major Market Sectors page shows the performance of sectors and industries within your selected market. The U.S. market ranks each of the ten S&P sectors for the selected time period (Today, 5-Day, 1-Month, 3-Month, 6-Month, Year-to-Date, 1-Year, 5-Year, and 10-Year) and shows their performance against the S&P 500 Index. Each S&P Sector can be “expanded” to view its industries (or sub-sectors) where you can view how each of these contribute to the overall sector performance.

The Canadian market ranks the fifteen major market sectors for the same time periods with performance shown against the TSX Composite Index.

Both markets also have two “Matrix” views, a Short-Term and a Long-Term, which ranks the sectors by today’s percent change, and then shows a heatmap of where the sector ranked for the 5-Day, 1-Month and 3-Month; or 1-Year, 5-Year and 10-Year periods.

Stocks Sector Finder

Sector Finder allows you to enter a ticker symbol (Stocks, ETFs) and display the sectors in which it belongs.

Once you enter a symbol, a summary displays showing all sectors and the SIC Code in which the symbol is found. A snapshot quote and chart for the symbol are also displayed on the page.
